Classical Academy of Sarasota Repeats as State Champions

2/28/26, 5:00 PM

Congratulations to their three-peat as State Champions! We are rooting for them to bring home Florida's first hardware from the national competition in April.

Florida high school teams competed in the Florida Academic Decathlon®  State Competition on February 27-28th, defending their previous state  title.

State championship honors went to Classical Academy with a  team score of 31,480.4 points.  In total, the school will send nine  students to represent Florida at the United States Academic Decathlon  National Competition in Garden Grove, CA April 23-25, 2026.

Academic  Decathlon, the premiere national scholastic competition for high school  students, was created to provide opportunities for students to  experience the challenges of a multidisciplinary academic competition.  Each student competes in ten events: Art, Economics, Essay, Interview,  Literature, Math, Music, Science, Social Science and Speech. Students  also compete in the Super Quiz™ Relay, a quiz-show event. This  all-around competition format rewards individuals and teams for learning  comprehensive skills that will carry through to professional careers. A  new theme of study is established every year with topics that are  relevant, current and challenging. This year’s theme was The Roaring  Twenties.

Combined, Classical Academy students earned over  $10,000 in cash scholarships and prizes for their efforts this year. We  wish them good luck as they represent our state and compete for more  prestige at Nationals
